Bowie BIC is a business accelerator and collaborative workspace where technology companies and government contractors access the largest concentration of business scale-up resources in Prince George's County. Bowie BIC provides mentoring, counseling, working and meeting space. As of FY2019 Bowie BIC clients and graduates have generated revenue of $10.3M and 212 jobs.

In the spring of 2019 Bowie BIC developed and launched a six-week initiative entitled The 8(a) Accelerator Program. Since June, graduate companies have reported new contracts totaling more than $1.4M. The 8(a) Accelerator is a six-week initiative developed in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to give 8(a) companies the edge they need to win more government contracts. Participants learn from our subject matter experts representing SBA; the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC); government contracting resources, such as EZGov Opps; and many business executives who are successful graduates of the SBA 8(a) Business Development program. The goal of the 8(a) Accelerator is to help each participant develop a detailed, actionable, capture strategy to achieve their individual business and revenue growth targets.

Prior to joining the MWBC, she worked as a Small Business Specialist for Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation and as a Business Consultant/Instructor for Maryland Small Business & Technology Development Center. The Small Business Administration (SBA) selected Angie as one of the nation’s top business development instructors to our US Military Armed Forces.

Kate Vendemio is MWBC’s Training and Events Manager. As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), certified ScrumMaster, and a Kirkpatrick Certified Evaluation Professional – Bronze Level, she brings a wealth of training and project management experience to the role. Kate has spent over thirteen years working with or for the federal government. Kate is also Founder/CEO at Mt. Vernon Consulting, LLC, a small women-owned business providing training design, development, and delivery services to businesses.

MWBC Intensive Business Plan Program: A business plan is a road map to steer your business in the right direction and an essential component of success. It is also the key to securing funding from banks and investors. Through this six-week intensive series, each attendee receives personalized guidance in developing a business plan for their company, and learning about the resources available to help them succeed. Attendees will finish the series with a complete business plan in hand and the confidence to know what the next best steps for their company will be. Martha P. Jimenez is the Senior Business Counselor for the Maryland Women’s Business Center (MWBC) in Montgomery County. A Colombian native with over 25 years of experience in business administration, Martha spent 14 of those years in the corporate sector and 10 years as an independent international business consultant for various companies in Latin America. Martha also has more than 15 years of experience training entrepreneurs and companies on various business related topics and has a special interest in supporting small businesses and enabling entrepreneurs to pursue their passions.
