Getting a Headstart on Your Start-Up
This is the checklist of activities – along with resources – that Judy wishes she’d had when she transitioned from her corporate job to launching her own start-up. Any new entrepreneur can and should accomplish these tasks prior to quitting her day job, shortening the gap between that last paycheck and the launch of an exciting new venture!
Judy O’Connor, Founder & CEO of Like Neighbors, leaped headfirst into entrepreneurship after discovering firsthand how difficult it was to help a long-distance friend with a critically ill child. To bring loved ones closer together during challenging times, Judy created LikeNeighbors.com, making it easy to organize, give and receive support like meal deliveries (and soon pet sitters, house cleaners, transportation and more) from across town or across the country.
A southern California native, Judy began her career in television production with clients including Warner Bros, Twentieth Television, ABC, and CBS. She also dedicated a decade of her career to the marketing and business development of NTVI, helping to grow its net worth from $20,000 to $7M, with $2M distributed to the company’s native American shareholders. Most recently, she spearheaded the fast-tracked branding and marketing of internet start-up IronDirect, going from concept to launch in six months.
Judy is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California, Riverside, with a B.A. degree in business administration.
